The purpose of this page is to help you with UPLOADING your personal website files. This is not instructions on how to build your page. Some information on this can be found on Dixie-Net's DPEC courses. The first thing you must know is that when you upload pages you need to upload them to your "homepage" directory. Your primary page must be named "index.html" or "index.htm" You cannot name your main page "mainpage.html" and expect it to work. The computer sees "index.html" and serves it to the web browser first. You must first have files saved on your hard drive in a folder where you can find it, let's take for example C:\webfiles. Let's say our folder looks like the following example.

This is a good start. The two images are included in our webpage. We must then upload these files to the web server into the correct folder. The easiest way to do this is using a program known as WSFTP. You may download WSFTP by clicking here, or if you have installed Dixie-Net from the new CD (version 3.0) click on the WSFTP icon in your ICC Console on the desktop.
When the WSFTP program loads, the first thing you will see is a screen that looks like the screenshot below. You will need to click on "New" to start a new session, and put Dixie-Net in the profile name, put ftp.dixie-net.com in the Host Name/Address, user ID needs to be your username, and put your password in the password box. You might check the "save password" box if you so desire.
When you get this screen filled out, then click on the "OK" button. This will connect to your directory, you will then see a list of folders on the right, and a list of folders and files on the left. You will need to select the directory on the left that you put your files in, (in our case "C:\webfiles" and then select the "homepage" folder on the right hand side (this is on the server) and then click once on the file on the left that you want to upload and click the right arrow. All files associated with your web page (images, sounds, etc.) will need to be uploaded.
