Happy Thanksgiving

We'd like to take this opportunity to give thanks for you, our customers, for your patronage. We appreciate the trust you've put in us to be your service provider, and we strive always to provide great service at a fair price. As you all gather with your families during the Holiday season, let us know if we can help you.

Dixie-Net is a small, family oriented company, and we value our employees' time and recognize the importance of allowing time off for family life and recreation. We also know that you count on us to be available if you need us.

Our Holiday schedules are planned well in advance, and the folks that are on-duty and on-call have volunteered for that time. To be here for you.

Dixie-Net offices will be mostly closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving. We will have support staff available 9am - 5pm on Thursday with Jerrica, and 9am - 5pm on Friday with Jeremy. Sherri will open the billing department 9am - 2pm on Friday.

As with all Sundays and Holidays, field technicians, back-office staff, and management will be off-duty, on-call for emergencies.

Our prayer is for you all to have an enjoyable, trouble-free Thanksgiving.

Drying out

Our headquarters location received over 9 inches of much-needed rain in October, and with this week's sun and breeze, the copper lines out there in the field are finally drying out. Rainy weather causes lots of problems, especially after the long dry heat wave of the summer. Our technicians and their AT&T counterparts have spent quite a bit of time running line trouble over the past few days. Hopefully everything is back to normal, if not, let us know!

Construction

Now that the mud isn't knee deep, our contractors have been able to complete the installation of the ground field at Mitchell Tower, and today, we expect to get the fine-tuning finished so that we can bring the Dumas Tower online at 100%.

Happy Halloween!

Wireless Update

Dixie-Net is nearing completion of the Dumas, MS wireless system. The link will be served from the Mitchell Water Tower located just off Hwy 4 E. Curt and Michael from Midwest Infrastructure came down from MO this week to help us out, and now the Mitchell Tower should be live this week.

We are having a little trouble bringing the Dumas Tower link up, and we think that one of the brand new radios is faulty. We are working with the manufacturer to resolve. Hopefully it's something simple, and we can make Dumas Tower live this week also.

Other News

Dixie-Net management will be conducting a free Telecom Seminar in Louisville, MS next Tuesday, Oct. 23, 5:30 pm, at the Winston County Development Foundation. The seminar will help businesses sort out the often confusing vocabulary of phone and data service, provide methods to understand their phone bill, and give insight into how businesses can save money and add services by taking advantage of new technologies, such as VoIP, voice mail to email, and internet fax gateway.

If you would like us to bring the seminar to your area, or for more information, call Eddie Norton at 800-918-9023, ext 2120.

Dixie-Net SPAMTRAP

We have battled the SPAM problem long and hard, in response to your concerns. We have looked far and wide for the best solution because we realize that almost everybody dislikes SPAM to some degree, but folks have differing needs, and we don't want to make wrong decisions for you.

You probably have noticed a marked decrease in the level of SPAM that is reaching your mailbox, and that is the result of a significant investment on our part. We have implemented The CanIt Spam Trap from Roaring Penguin Software.

We are now providing the most flexible and effective SPAM filtering solution in the known world, and YOU get to set your own preferences. Change them as often as you want!

All you need to do is log onto The Dixie-Net SpamTrap with your email address and password to control your own destiny. With many other Providers, you have no control, and you could miss a legitimate email because someone else is deciding what to deliver to you. Not at Dixie-Net; we allow you to set your own SPAM filtering preferences.

For those of you who want even more control, we offer our Expert Interface for $29.95 per year. Call Customer Service or email support@dixie-net.com to sign up. We can also offer WHOLE DOMAIN SPAM filtering for those of you who are responsible for administering the email for an entire domain ($9.95 per month).

Please let us know what you think!
