The purpose of this page is to help you with UPLOADING your personal website files. This is not instructions on how to build your page. Some information on this can be found on Dixie-Net's DPEC courses.

ORGANIZE
Organize your files so that you have all the images and html files in the same folder on your hard drive. (example)

CONNECT
We must then upload these files to the web server into the "homepage" folder. The easiest way to do this is using a program called WSFTP. You may download WSFTP by clicking here.
When the WSFTP program loads, the first thing you will see is a screen that looks like this. You will need to click on "New" to start a new session, and put Dixie-Net in the profile name, put ftp.dixie-net.com in the Host Name/Address, user ID needs to be your username, and put your password in the password box. You might check the "save password" box if you so desire.

UPLOAD
When you get this screen filled out, then click on the "OK" button. This will connect to your directory, you will then see a list of folders on the right, and a list of folders and files on the left. You will need to select the directory on the left that you put your files in, (in our example "C:\webfiles") and then select the "homepage" folder on the right hand side (this is on the server).
Click once on the file on the left that you want to upload and click the right arrow.
All files associated with your web page (images, sounds, etc.) will need to be uploaded.

WORLD WIDE WEB

Now that you have your page uploaded (remember to upload all the images you used in your page) you are ready for the world to see it! Just type in the following in any web browser, and what you should see is your index page.
http://www.username.home.dixie-net.com (replace "username" with your own personal Dixie-Net user name.) This should allow anyone, anywhere to view the pages that you have uploaded. Good luck!
